For the fourth week in a row, Lynbrook sophomore Cindy Huang won a local cross country race.

Just as she did at the Saratoga Center Meet the previous week, and at the Firebird Invitational and Lynbrook Center Meet before that, Huang outdistanced all challengers at the Central Park Invitational in Santa Clara on Sept. 23.

Huang covered the 2.3-mile course in 14:06.5, 3.5 seconds ahead of runner-up Katie Nast, a Saratoga senior, and four better than another Lynbrook sophomore, Lauren Tang. Saratoga junior Karen Wai (14:16.7) was fourth, just ahead of Mary Reynolds, the best finisher for team champion Mountain View.

Monta Vista senior Jean Feng, who placed 10th, used the Central Park run as a tune-up for the Stanford Invitational four days later. Feng ran Stanford's 5K course in 19:16 to place sixth out of 221 Division I runners.

Just like Huang, Lynbrook's boys team was a winner for the fourth week in a row. Junior Luca Signore's second-place effort paced the Vikings, who edged Mountain View by five points. Signore (12:12) finished eight seconds behind winner Eric Safai of Los Altos.

Cupertino junior Max Pommier (12:29) placed sixth and Fremont senior Jose Gurrola (12:44) took ninth. Lynbrook senior Gene Burinskiy ran 12:46 for 11th, just .02 and one spot better than junior teammate Amrit Subramanian. Cupertino freshman Peter Anthony (12:48) finished 14th, five places in front of Homestead junior Mike Louthan (12:53).
